Ramsey - subalpine warbler sp. (probable Eastern)

Probable Eastern subalpine warbler (male) at Ogof Capel today. Thanks to Dave Astins and Richard Brown for their input on ID. Looks promising on moustache stripe and extent of red but outer tail feathers not seen and it was silent other than a short bit of sub song initially. Very elusive all morning but a few pictures were obtained. Not seen all afternoon. It is the 6th subalpine warbler record for Ramsey and if accepted as Eastern will be a 1st (all records bar one since 2006)

Good numbers of common migrants today topped by 30 willow warblers and 24 blackcaps. Also 2 whitethroats (after the first of the year yesterday), a second ring ouzel of the year and firsts of the year in the form of hen harrier, dunlin and sedge warbler. Small number of swallows headed north
