A smart male Whinchat on a barbed wire fence just up from the coast at Aberfelin, Trefin this evening. This is my first in the area. In the scrubby area by the beach, a Lesser Whitethroat has been singing on and off since last Friday. The area is also awash with Chiffchaffs, Willow Warblers, Blackcaps and a single Sedge Warbler.
Its been a good spring for Grasshopper Warblers here, with 8 separate reeling birds within a mile of the house - favouring hedges and banks in the open fields.
