From John Bearne - Took a bike ride down to St Ishmaels today and walked down the farm track to Castle Head. Plenty of linnets and a couple of pairs of stonechat with recent fledglings. At least 8 singing skylark on a beautiful afternoon. Highlight for me was an adult with recently fledged juvenile chough, The youngster was food soliciting and ignoring parental attempts to teach it to feed. There are a few pairs in the Haven but I have not seen them breed successfully before at this spot, probably because of the high density of raven and resident peregrine.Bob and Annie might be interested to hear that the House Marten colony at Dale Sailing in Neyland is still thriving. We counted ten active nests recently most with well grown broods.
