A wander around the airfield this evening looking at the resting gulls for colour-rings, managed to find a Ynys Gwylan (Bardsey) ringed Great Black-backed Gull amongst them (B:162) but surprisingly none from the colour-ringing project on Skokholm (around 50 GBBGs present). Also 2 Lapwing here, present for a few days.
At the Gann a Green Sandpiper this evening, our first of the autumn. Yesterday a smart Black-tailed Godwit, and was very pleased to get some nice shots of a juvenile Greenshank, one of 4 birds present (the others are adults). Curlews now number 100+, and at least 8 bear colour-rings (all successfully read). Redshank are up to 11, still just the 2 colour-ringed birds (15 & 75).
Starlings have been roosting regularly in the Crabhall reedbed, great to see a large % of juvenile birds (perhaps 60% of the 130+ we have seen each evening). Mediterranean Gulls continue to pass through in small numbers, yesterday evening there were 6 on the beach: 3 juveniles (1CY), and 3 2CY. We have now twice seen a Kingfisher here recently, having not seen one for over a year.
