We made a short visit to Landshipping Quay late this afternoon. There
were a few more waders in the area – most of them at a high-tide roost,
including a few curlews and redshanks, two more common sandpipers, two more
whimbrels, 7 oystercatchers and 7 black-tailed godwits. Three little egrets
feeding on the north shore of the eastern Cleddau were possibly the birds that
have been around all summer in this general area.
A few hundred black-headed gulls were feeding offshore. They were too far away and the light was poor, so we could not be certain if there were any med gulls present among them. Most of the gulls appeared to be adults and those we saw more closely were in various stages of wing and body moult, some so much so that not much black was showing on the tips of their primaries.
