The beach also held a small selection of waders at lunchtime, with at least 14 Ringed Plover, 7 Dunlin, 2 Knot, 1 Sanderling, and 5 Turnstone. Remarkably, one of the Ringed Plover and one of the Dunlin were colour-ringed, and I was able to confirm both with the camera. The Dunlin was ringed in Mid Wales just 5 days ago (a juvenile), whilst the Ringed Plover looks to be a bird from a German ringing project on Fehmarn Island, NE of Hamburg, but I await further confirmation.
Both birds were still present this evening when Lisa & I checked again - the numbers by then were 29 Ringed Plover, 9 Dunlin, 3 Sanderling & 4 Turnstone. The 2 Sandwich Terns were still present, and we had what I am pretty sure was a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, but it vanished before we could study it in enough detail.
