Pencarnan Wood Sandpiper

Heading off this morning on our daily patch-stomp we were more than surprised - ecstatic in fact - to find this Wood Sandpiper feeding on the rapidly evaporating fringes of the pond found at the entrance to the campsite despite the hassle of passing traffic. In fact, it was the appearance of two thirsty stallions that forced this first-timer for our patch list into giving its trademark flight call "chiff-if-if" as it departed over our heads.

Carrying on with our patch search,

we headed over to Treleddyn Farm where, on a large and muddy puddle - hey presto!
