Buff-breasted sandpipers, Marloes Mere

Thanks to a call from Richard D, I was soon leaving Dale airfield where I'd been hoping for some exotic wader (or any wader would have done, or indeed anything... it was a bit quiet). So a quick jaunt to Marloes Mere was welcomed. The two Buff-breasts were in the recently seeded field on the westside of the NT car park along with 7 Ringed plover (SM 77855 08234). They were never close and a Merlin spooked them twice and they had a couple of fly arounds but always came back to the same area. There were lots of craneflies coming off up on the airfield so I imagine they were taking these, as they were constantly scurrying around, some large gulls feeding in the same field were probably doing the same. Only Andy T and myself there.
