From Ian Smith - Friday 11th September
Marloes Mere 08:45-10:50
2 Mute Swan, 1 Coot, 46 Teal, 4 Mallard, 8 Snipe and good views of the Marsh Harrier. Found the Dor Beetle, impailed on barbed wire, still moving all legs, but not the Shrike that did the deed. A flock of 14 feeding Chough a nice bonus, with belief those Ibis must be feeding somewhere in the Mere.
A briefish viewing at The Gann revealed 28 Brent Goose and 2 Juv Shelduck and yet more views of Osprey.
A brisk circuit of Dale Airfield revealed a few Mipits and single Skylark. Any other birds I cannot recall as my mind blanked undoubtably the most unproductive visit, ever, to this site.
Credit to George M assisting the observations at all three morning sites.
After an extended lunch & siesta, back to The Gann 18:40-19:45 to provide another alternative Brent Goose count of 29 birds and single birds on the beach of Dunlin, Knot, Med Gull and that wary indicisive Curlew Sandpiper.
Thanks to so many people for their help in making this an excellent 12 day birding trip. Look forward to next September, but now it is over and out for Pembs 2020, with North Ron in hopeful October sights.
