At 07.30 today a Turtle Dove sat on the line above the pond at the entrance to the campsite. A little later in the morning the fields here produced a flock of 200/300 Linnets, and "lanes" of recently cut grass, ready for baling, attracted a steady changeover of alba/yarellii wagtails along with Meadow Pipits and the odd Wheatear - all signs that the southerly passage here along the coastal fringe is picking up.
The surface Pressure Charts for early next week holds out hope for greater excitement following days of westerly wind suppression. A Wryneck would be nice.
