At Tenby today at least 35 Ringed Plover on the South Beach and sometimes on the golf course and Chough seem to be everywhere you look at the moment. A flock of 20 yesterday morning on the course. I also found a dead Black Tailed Godwit there today with an Icelandic ring on its leg - Peregrine fodder judging by the feathers scattered around. Although Blackwits have been much more frequent in recent years than in the past very few have been recorded in the Tenby area as far as I know.
At Marloes a load of shearwaters came ashore last night in the misty conditions - about 50/50 dead and alive for the ones we have seen so far. - It will be interesting to see how many are recorded overall as fog is not good for their navigation although possibly not so much a problem as big gales.
