A Yellow-browed warbler was calling in the woodland behind the toilet block, near the pink scouts cottage around 4:30pm. Having checked St Brides yesterday without any luck I thought I'd give it another go. Andy B had the same idea and was just arriving as I pulled into the car park. After getting my wellies on and catching up with Andy, he commented about there being lots of birds moving through the woodland edge. As we chatted the ssu-eee, ssu-eee of a YBW stopped me mid sentence. We headed towards where it seemed to be calling from near the pink cottage and scanned the blackthorn and sycamores. A mixed flock of Blue tit, Long-tailed tit, Goldcrest and a couple of Chiffchaff passed by before flying across the path into the walled orchard and out of sight, the YBW gave another couple of calls from the orchard but we failed to get a sighting. Despite a thorough check with Andy and again with George M the flock were no where to be seen. I supect it remained in the private orchard. Back again tomorrow...
