Bonaparte's Gull

Picked up the adult Bonaparte's Gull coming down the river with a flock of some 100 or so Black-headed Gulls at 16:05.  The flock headed low over the water south across the bay, around Black Rock to presumably roost on the calmer waters off Dale seafront.  First time we have seen it head that way to roost, if it makes a habit of it then it will be easier for others to pick it up - just go to the seafront and watch the roost!

On Saturday I picked up this Great Black-backed Gull with just a metal ring on the river above the footbridge at the Gann.  With incredible luck (and some patience) we managed to read the ring - MA02054.  It was ringed as a nestling on Midland Island on 29/05/2012.  The ringing report is HERE.
