Castlemartin Corse

Generally pretty quiet at the Corse this afternoon with no Lapwing or Golden Plover and on the water in front of the reed bed just 4 Mallard and 1 Moorhen. C.30 Curlew were by Starmans Hall and a few Snipe over the reeds.

Although not quite the raptor fest of recent days the red tagged Marsh Harrier was present, mostly perched on bushes in the reed bed and occasionally hunting. Whilst watching it quartering the reeds a Bittern flew past going in the opposite direction and gave a good long flight view before dropping into the reeds. A female Sparrowhawk and a couple of Buzzards made the raptor total respectable.

The central seat in the hide is quite a butchers block with several pellets 2 wings and some guts - quite gruesome and it would be interesting to know which bird of prey is the culprit.
