Marloes Mere

Late afternoon visit to the mere. Lots of birds in the stubble fields, c 5,000 Starling, c500 corvids (mostly rooks and jackdaw) and c1,000 Herring gulls among which was a darker mantled bird looks like a YLG, frustratingly it was mostly hidden in the stubble and behind other gulls. It's head looked to have some streaking. Soon after these pictures the gulls flushed and I couldn't re-find it.

Otherwise 9-10 Tufties out from the Britton Hide (4f and 5-6m), female Pintail, c150 Mallard (there were 110 in the stubbles with the gulls), c100 Teal, 60 Canadas, 30 Wigeon, 20 Shoveler, 30 Lapwing and a single Snipe. Something flushed everything 3-4 times in the couple of hours I was there but couldn't see what was doing it in the melee.
