Today, the little egret was feeding in a tiny patch of aquatic vegetation on the otherwise frozen pond - newts, possibly, or invertebrates? An immature grey heron tried several times to drive it off, but the egret wasn't going anywhere and continued to feed, the heron giving up and flying off.
