Golden Plovers

Although most of the larger flocks of Golden Plover have probably left this area, a small flock of c.200  (their golden brown colours glinting beautifully in the sunshine) was flying over fields near Martletwy this afternoon. The sheep-grazed pastures between Beacon Hill and Crosshands being a regular location for this species (and for Lapwings) in the winter months.
