Newgale Water Pipits and Swallows

A flock of 11 or 12 Water Pipits were on the puddles and by the ditch at the campsite after lunch. I counted 11, the wife had 12. All the close ones were definites, the furthest may have included Meadow Pipits.

Earlier two Swallows flew past heading north past us at the rocky knoll above the quarry just north of the Matthew Baker caravan site. In the valleys of Southwood Farm there were at least six singing Chiffchaffs - I gave up trying to count them - plus singing Skylarks, Dunnocks, Stonechats and Reed Buntings.

The sea was quite quiet with a couple of distant Gannets, less than 50 Common Scoter and five Wigeon and few gulls. A distant and obvious Peregrine was sitting on top of a favourite vantage point, but nothing was moving along the coast other than the Swallows.
