From Toby Middlemist: After hearing the reports of a (possible) White-tailed Eagle heading upstream, I rushed down to Higgon's Well, Haverfordwest, with a little hope of finding it. After arriving. I headed to a viewpoint on the river to scout out with my scope. After 10-20 mins, I spotted a large bird which due to poor light conditions, appeared mostly black. I pulled my scope up and saw, what I think might have been a white-tailed Eagle. My description: The bird was very big, compared to some Herring Gulls nearby, and at first appeared blackish, but when the sun caught it appeared much browner with lighter streaking. The tail was the most prominent feature, it was an almost triangular shape and really big, the feathers appeared slightly spaced. the other feature was the neck, which was fairly long. Sadly due to the light conditions, the bird's face and bill were not visible. From head-on, the winges were slightly pointed up at the ends. but otherwise were completely straight, which was also visible from the underparts where the wings appeared almost like a rectangle with wings on the end. After observing for 1 or so mins. the bird disappeared behind a hill. Compared to a Buzzard that I saw 10 mins later, the tail was very different and it was much bigger.
The photo shows from where I observed. The bird was towards the tower in the background and flew over the hill when it left.
