Chough at Tenby

There is a presumed non breeding flock of 6 Chough foraging daily on and around the Tenby Golf course and today a  separate pair possibly from the Giltar Point area as I have seen them several times flying from the Point to the golf course. This pair were foraging around a bunker and one of them found a spot in a bunker out of the cold wind and it started to sun itself spreading its wings and tail and flattening its body into the sand - its behaviour I have never seen in a corvid before although Chough can often be seen on sheltered cliff slopes when there is a strong wind.

At Mullock over the weekend a good number of Chiffchaff and a few Blackcaps around but perhaps the most interesting was a good sized flock of Greenfinch and we ringed 10 birds - more than the last two years totals.  The other common bird was Goldfinch which have been more or less absent (despite full feeders) for the last three months so we suspect these were birds returning from their southern winter sites.
