From Toby Middlemist:
On Sunday, we visited Marloes Mere where there were lots of Hirundines around. On the lake, 2 Gadwall, 3 Wigeon (1 drake), and 9 Shoveler. On the way, we passed a pool near Marloes (Winterton Farm) where there were 3 Greylag Geese! presumably feral, but when we drove back they were gone. At the Deer Park, Wheatears were still avoiding me, and as usual, I couldn't find one (I've been wanting to see one for ages!).
Today at St David's Head, I was finally rewarded with a
sighting, in fact, 8! Lots of Swallow around, but the
highlight was a Rock Pipit that was being attacked by a male
Wheatear. When I reached the end of the peninsula, a few Gannets and a Fulmar crossed
by, and a few swallows were battling the wind to head north.
On the way back, a Merlin was hunting around the valley.
(Note from the Editor: Those geese belong to Winterton Farm and they are very fierce!)
