Common Rosefinch and Collared Dove

Yesterday, the owner of Pencarnan Camp stopped me to ask if he could have seen a Crossbill on the ground in the farm's yard where his chickens roam. I replied - no. He had evidently seen a bird with which he was unfamiliar. Quizzing him led me to show him a picture of a Common Rosefinch, leaving him and myself in no doubt he had seen a male of this species.

Early this morning I logged two flocks of Collared Dove, 20 and 6, flying between Pencarnan and Rhosson Farm. Migratory movement of this dove is far from unusual here at this time of the year. Looking back through my records I've recorded flock appearances each year, 2008 to the present. Largest counts were: 2008 qty 40, 2012 qty 72, 2015 qty 47, and today 26.
