The Curlew Sandpiper still at the Gann this evening, showing well along the lagoon edge, now in the company of 3 smart Dunlin (a 4th was on the beach). Oystercatcher yellow X4 continues its stay, in company with around 50 other birds, only 4 of which were from the local colour-ringing scheme (plus one metal ringed bird). Curlew (including one colour-ringed bird) outnumbered Whimbrel 7 to 4. 3 sub-adult Mute Swan were in the bay, and were presumably 3 of the 4 that flew over an hour or so earlier. Finally, it was lovely to hear and see a male Greenfinch singing away on the Blackthorn: they have been regular visitors of late and a female has been seen carrying nesting material (worth noting that juveniles have been seen elsewhere in the county today).
