A hour or so around the mere this evening revealed a pair plus a male Shoveler and a pair of Tufties, presumably the birds that over wintered, just shows how hard it is to keep tabs once the vegetation gets going.
A Whimbrel also calling out of sight, a Lapwing and a Ringed plover. 2 Swift and a full house of hirundines. About 15-20 Pied wagtail in Trehills field. The pair of Mute swans were off the nest so hopefully have cygnets but like the duck impossible to tell. Reed buntings were really active, with a couple of birds among the wagtails picking up flies from the bare earth field and other birds carrying food to nest sites.
