The/a Great White Egret was feeding on the mud on both sides of the river around Fern Hill and Boulston between 1.00 and 2.30pm today.
Also around were two Kingfishers at Black Hill and Little Milford streams following on from another one at Merlins Brook/Higgons Well yesterday. Two Ringed Plovers with five Dunlin joined the regular waders at Little Milford - five Greenshank, single Common Sandpiper, dozen Curlew and 40+ Redshank - and only about 150 Black-headed Gulls. There was no sign of an Osprey here or later on a quick visit to Picton Point nor a second GWE there either.
