The/a Great White Egret was visible on the spit at the bend in the river below Boulston Home Farm on an early afternoon visit to Little Milford.
At Little Milford the high tide roost contained a tight group of 40 Redshank and around 200 Black-headed Gulls, only two being juveniles, along with a few Lesser Black-back and Herring Gulls and a single Curlew. More gulls and about 20 Canada Geese with two Cormorants were further downstream at Hook Bight.
As the tide fell six Greenshank and a single Little Egret ventured out from the taller vegetation and the GWE moved down towards Little Milford, but had returned back north by the time I had recrossed the stream to have a closer look. It is presumably the same bird that has been around since early July - unless somebody saw the regular one further north between 2.30 and 4pm today?
