Angle Bay / Pembroke River / Sprinkle Pill

A day out looking at estuarine sites with John Parker was absolutely superb.  Lots of birds at Angle Bay, the highlight being a 1CY Yellow-legged Gull.  But perhaps more noteworthy was an impressive 47 Pintail.  Pretty sure the largest flock I have ever seen in Pembrokeshire, and perhaps the largest since a count of 61 at Sprinkle Pill on 29th December 2000?  I'm sure Annie or Jon can confirm or deny that!  Also 36 Brent Geese (all pale-bellied), a good number of Wigeon and a nice selection of waders including both godwits and Sanderling.

The Pembroke River was also stacked with birds, particularly Wigeon which must have numbered a few thousand.  3 Knot here the main addition to the Angle selection.

Sprinkle Pill was also stacked with birds, the Golden Plover impossible to count as they were always airborne but it was a delight to simply watch and listen to them.  Most unusual sighting was a single Green Sandpiper towards the top of the pill.
