Broad Haven - Eiders etc

A quick look from the north end of Broad Haven beach before the shrike pilgrimage to Marloes turned up an impressive flock of Common Eider - 13 I think and I am not sure there was not a royal one hiding with so much varied plumage. A juvenile Surf Scoter was with a nearby group of Common Scoter and a Reed-throated Diver put in an appearance too.

Further south at Goultrop Roads were a fair number of Red-throats, at least six and probably 10 or more, but a ten minute visit did not do justice to the site.

I had thought I had missed out on the shrike at Marloes, but, as I walked back up the lane after everyone else had left and the drizzle was starting and the light fading, I caught sight of a warm brown thing at the bottom of the hedge down from the cottage. Wrong optics, wrong weather and wrong time of day, but I suspect it is still there.
