Castlemartin Corse, Carew

Rob Lewis and I managed a WEBS count of the Corse - not straightforward at present between mud, cattle and an impassable fallen tree at the pines. A build-up of lapwing (280) plus 40 curlew, 6 black-tailed godwit and the greylags at the upstream end below the church, and more duck on the water around the hide including 6 shoveler. Checking the fen meadow for snipe tricky with the cattle.

The sluice at Carew Millpond was open, the crackling goose (as a member of the Castle team called it, probably thinking of Chinese takeaways) was standing on one leg near the barrier looking depressingly tame.
