Stackpole this morning

A brief visit to Stackpole produced a Blackcap feeding on fruit at the Walled Garden, a Black Redstart (female-type) on the Stackpole Centre roofs (a regular location for this species in November), Chiffchaff on the edge of the reedbed next to the Upper Eastern Arm footpath (another regular spot for overwintering birds) and a Firecrest in trees near the Walled Garden car park.

In  addition, we noted 5 Goosanders (2 males and 3 females) on the eastern arm of Bosherston Lakes, and also 6 Gadwall and 4 Tufted Ducks (females) there. A couple of Water Rails were calling from the reedbed but Moorhens were the most numerous waterfowl in the now rather shallow and swampy Upper Eastern Arm.
