Angle Bay this morning in the rain

We made a late morning visit to Angle Bay (Rhoscrowther end) just as the rain was setting in. Numerous waterfowl just offshore included 22 pale-bellied Brent geese. They were starting to feed as the tide ebbed. c.1,000+ wigeon, in a few offshore flocks of up to 300 or so, were also starting to feed along the tide edge. There were not less than 45 pintails, all rather spread-out; the largest flock being 22 on the east side of the bay.

Shore waders included c.300 dunlins, 50+ ringed plovers, a few turnstones, 2 sanderlings, 1 bar-tailed godwit, 1 grey plover, 30+ oystercatchers, several redshanks and a grey plover, all busily feeding. The usual/expected gulls resting on the shore included at least 32 common gulls.

Visibility became too poor to see much out in the bay, other than a couple of closer in great crested grebes.
