St Florence, Carew

After a few weeks with few winter thrushes around it was nice to see a couple of mixed flocks of several hundred Fieldfares and Redwings around St Florence this morning.

A walk around the Carew area in the gloom this afternoon was brightened somewhat with a tight flock of 600+ Golden Plover on the West Bank of the Carew River past Hakin Point. A Peregrine cruised past as I walked along the lanes and 12 Fieldfares flew past chacking  away. On the mud by Carew Mill there were 20 Redshank, 1 Greenshank and further downstream 15 Blackwits.
