Marloes Peninsula

A noticeable arrival of Wheatear, 88 in total on my circuit with 30 in the rough field above Martins Haven. Some straight into song. Most interesting bird of the evening was a striking Stonechat with a very broad white collar, large white rump and wing coverts, possibly of the continental subspecies rubicola on the Deer Park. The local birds were chasing it around so it wouldn't settle for long.

Otherwise a cracking evening apart from wheatear everywhere you looked, there were Whimbrel dotted around the coastal fields mostly given away by call, only one bird seen. A Lapwing was beside the pond at West Hook (thanks to Rob Thomas for telling me about it) and 2 Snipe flushed at the mere. Duckwise: 8 pr and 3m Teal, 3pr and 3m Shoveler. 2 Sedge warblers and 5 Whitethroat around the mere with 4 more Whitethroat on the Deer Park along with 3 Grasshopper warblers. A couple of Chiffchaffs in Sash withies was all I could see there. Single Chough by Rainy Rock and Renney Slip. A GBB gull was having a tussle with a sizeable spider crab, when I left I think the crab may have been edging it on points.

A good look around Pengelli on the weekend turned up 2-3 singing Pied flycatcher and a female all in Panteg and 2 Redstart.
