Gann (& Skomer)

A Whimbrel at the Gann early this morning: a very late migrant, or the first autumn return?  Curlew beginning to build again with around 10 birds.  Lovely to see a male Greenfinch singing his heart out along the ridge, and the Shelduck family still contains 2 youngsters.  Hopefully, at 24 days old, they are pretty safe from the predators that took their 5 siblings.  The 2CY Med Gull still present, nearly always sitting on, or walking around, Cormorant Island.

On Monday's visit to Skomer I was surprised to see an old friend - Oystercatcher yellow X4, a regular at the Gann over the past 2 months and during a similar period in 2021, when it also visited Skokholm.  Originally ringed in Dublin on 25/1/2020.
