The turnover of waders at the Gann is pretty impressive at the moment and provides encouragement that something different could arrive at any time. Today's offerings included 3 Green Sandpiper flying over the Gann calling repeatedly this evening, 6 Sanderling (down to 1 this evening) 5 of which were my first juveniles of the autumn. 2 Knot remain (both juveniles). Record 2 more Skokholm ringed Herring Gull today (W:898 and W:958) as well as a previously recorded Belgian Med Gull (white 3VTR). Numbers of both Dunlin and Ringed Plover fluctuate by the hour, with clear movement between here and the airfield - this evening at least 30 of the former and 40 of the latter, most upstream of the bridge or on the back of the lagoon. This morning a Manx Shearwater cruised in from the bay, across the lagoon, and landed on the track behind the reedbed somewhere!
Yesterday a Whinchat at St Ann's Head, and the evening before 2 Yellow Wagtail in amongst the cattle. one of which was startlingly grey and white but I never got a prolonged or close enough view. The quest for a Citrine continues! 2 recent scouts around Dale Airfield have produced 2 Lapwing and a single Golden Plover.
