Richard Ellis was looking for someone to take over the Cosheston Pill WeBS count, so we arranged for a walk around the site this morning. We began with a Kingfisher on wires, and five Stock Dove, four flushed and a flyby.
On the river, 49 Teal, eleven Dunlin, two Common Sandpiper, 31 Redshank, a Grey Heron and a Little Egret. When we reached a good viewpoint, an Osprey appeared from the north! It began hovering seemingly looking for a fish before dramatically stooping and making a loud splash, it came up with a large fish before flying north over fields.
On our way back a Goshawk appeared flying north over the pill, being harassed by Black-headed Gulls and Crows. An exciting first visit!
Unfortunately, my camera is having trouble uploading photos to the computer, I'll try to add photos as soon as possible.
| My first Pembrokeshire Osprey. This bird is missing a left primary. |
