Early part of the gull roost tonight - 5 Med, including 1st & 2nd winter and adult, and 18 Common amongst the flock of 100+ Black-headed Gulls. Low numbers of Herring, Lesser Black-backed and Great Black-backed Gulls also joining.
2 smart male Pintail have joined the Wigeon here for the past couple of days. Yesterday, 4 Shoveler were still knocking around but not today. A large flock of Oystercatchers (45 birds) comes in for the roost at high tide and, yesterday, 71 Black-tailed Godwits were busy feeding in the shallow water. Today, they numbered only 7. Golden Plover, Lapwing and Dunlin are still here in good numbers. A Goshawk passed over as I arrived, heading across the estuary in which 7 Great Crested Grebes were fishing.
