Gann gullfest

Doing our WEBS count today at the Gann we were amazed to see huge numbers of gulls at high tide. There are usually a few around but not these numbers. There were representatives of most species but the stand-out feature was the good number of Mediterranean Gulls, nearly in full breeding plumage (see Dave Astins post below) allowing excellent comparisons with the huge numbers of Black-headed Gulls (a bit behind the Meds in terms of breeding plumage). During the time we were there, many of these birds were in the pools, giving great close views.
