Marloes Mere

Just a short note - rather few birds clearly visible when I first looked at the Mere but a ring tail Hen Harrier drifting over the length of the wetland (and there was a lot of water visible) lifted a flock of, otherwise invisible, 16 Snipe and 24 Wigeon from one section.  The Snipe  disappeared again quite quickly into emergent vegetation while, the ducks joined others that had swum out into open water.

Nevertheless just 48 Wigeon, 21 Shoveler, 10 Mallard, 8 Teal and 2 Gadwall were counted.  Only one Little Grebe calling and 5 Coot - there must be more Coot and Moorhen present there.
