Castlemartin Corse

A surprise in the field behind the car park at Fresh West - a mixed flock of 24 waders feeding busily, probing in the sandy soil - 4 curlew, 13 whimbrel and 7 bar-tail godwits, including three brick-red individuals. Whitethroat singing in the blackthorn thicket by the toilets (a regular breeding location). The small reedbed along the stream running inland from the road contained sedge, Cetti's, grasshopper and the first reed warbler. Further in, sedge warblers approaching saturation, and at least two more grasshopper warblers.
