News from Pembrokeshire regular Ian Smith.
Tuesday 2nd May. Start as you mean to go on. Dale Airfield from 9:45. Whimbrel flocks of 7, 21, 23 and 6. How many were birds interchanging, I could not tell. 12 Chough heading towards Marloes Sands and perhaps 6 Wheatears including 2 big bright 'northern' birds.
The Gann 18:30-19:15 for high tide wader count. 59 Oystercatchers, 24 Dunlin and 20 Ringed Plover.
Back to the Airfield 19:20-20:30. Just the one Whimbrel flock of 25 feeding everywhere; in the grasslands, stoney field and very often the squishy grass strips between the concrete sections. The latter bringing back memories of Chough seen ONLY feeding in these strips during a previous visit coinciding with a very dry spell.
It is good to be back !
