St Davids Head

Paul and I had another look around St Davids Head first thing. Stiff breeze but in the sheltered spots it was very pleasant. Lots of St Marks fly around so not surprisingly a few feasting Spotted flycatchers in Porthmelgan withies, at least 3, but with a dozen or so Blackcaps throwing themselves in the air it was hard to keep track. Willow warblers and chiffs as well. Two male cuckoo chasing around and through the withies. Pair kestrel having a spat with a Merlin. Red kite and buzzard with Peregrine later. Jay and 5 Lesser redpoll by YHA. Penberri Res, Ifor's Pond, Pencarnan and Trefeiddan much quieter, just a Grasshopper warbler and Grey heron. Stopped off at Folkeston Farm, Nolton, 3-4 Yellowhammers and Lesser whitethroat.

Tuesday evening Marloes Peninsula, 2 Spotted flycatcher in withies by the mere, 9 Whimbrel in West Hooks fields with more calling over the Deer Park. 4 Collared dove on the Deer Park was unusual. Ringed plover flying over. Lots of swallows including a brick-red bellied bird.
