Rob Lewis's images from this morning, wings looking distinctly tatty.
Forsman says: "During their first winter, juveniles moult considerably less than young Montagu's and most return in spring in a more or less complete, albeit worn, juvenile plumage.....The first complete moult appears to start earlier than in adults, from late April onwards". So not moulting, just worn? These feathers have got to last it another couple of months.
It's a month since Rob's first photos - and a timely intervention from Cornwall - started all this.
Rob and Adam also saw marsh harrier, peregrine, buzzard and sparrowhawk.
