Update on colour marked Curlew Sandpiper from Gann 19 June 2024
This is a female bird, colour marked on 27th November
2022 in Puthalam Saltpan, Kanyakumari district, Southernmost tip of
India mainland.
That is some journey the bird has taken!
A lot of people have contributed to linking my sighting
of the bird and finding out where it was colour ringed. I can only thank
everyone who has contributed many of whom I have not had direct contact
with. To those I can name thanks to Dave
who told me where to look for birds colour ringed here in Uk and
Europe, to Carole from IWSG who has taken up the challenge. The
information on the bird has been supplied by Dr
Balachandran of the Migratory Bird Monitoring Trust in India.
