Dale airfield

Fresh breeze with an easterly origin brought a few more birds than recent visits. 100s of meadow pipits across the runways and grassy areas with about 10 Pied wagtails, likewise Skylarks across the inner triangle. 7 Wheatear. A few Cranefly coming off so these were no doubt the main item on the menu. 3 Ringed plover and a curlew the only waders. First 2 Whinchat of the autumn in the bracken above Marloes Sands, a single bright yellow Willow warbler, 2 Whitethroat and a blue tit in the blackthorn. 10 Starling. 2 Chough and a pair Kestrels. Linnets in flocks of 20 and 50 and a few goldfinch on the thistle heads.
