Ty Rhyg

Nightjars are still present at Ty Rhyg but singing now seems more subdued with only brief spells of males churring. A kingfisher flew across the central clearing and into the forest not long before dusk last night. The huge numbers of blackcaps present 2 weeks ago now seem to have mostly moved on, but still lots of willow warblers and chiffchaffs, as well as the occasional garden warbler, sedge warbler, whitethroat and grasshopper warbler. A newly fledged brood of spotted flycatchers were in the taller trees and 2 pied flycatchers in the scrub. The biggest surprise was a single chough heading east overhead calling frequently - I can't remember seeing one here before.
