Pleasant afternoon's birding with visiting friends, Clare and Mike, from Hants. Prolonged views (for at least 10 mins) of an Osprey flying up and down river, mostly on the Hook side. On several occasions it dived down toward the mud flats as if trying to pick something up but soon moved on. Thanks for the pic Mike.
Also noted were, 35 Redshank, 3 Greenshank, 15 Oystercatcher, 50+ Curlew, 1 whimbrel,4 little Egrets, a Peregrine that put all the curlew up, 70 + black-headed gulls, and a party of about 10 mistle Thrushes...
Another Osprey ( or the same?) seen over Llawhaden on 14 Aug, and today (22 Aug) a hobby was hawking inverts high over the valley, both seen from our patio..
