American Golden Plovers - Dale Airfield

A day guiding on the Dale & Marloes peninsula started at the Gann with a fab flock of 55 Mediterranean Gulls on rocks straight out from the car park.  All ages present, an adult with a yellow ring (A6CU) appears to be from Sweden - if so, that will be a first for me.  A nice selection of waders including 6 Bar-tailed Godwits (one colour ringed at the Gann on Monday), 4 Ruff, a Knot and a Dunlin4 Red Kites cruising over the marsh, beach and river included them all sitting on the seaweed up the river at one point, a very unusual sight!

On to a very windswept Dale Airfield where I initially questioned my choice of site, only for that to be quickly forgotten as 2 waders in flight that raised a pulse proved to be as I suspected when we located them on the ground: 2 juvenile American Golden Plovers!  They sat pretty motionless in a field just the other side of a fence affording superb views.  3 Wheatears and a single Snipe the other birds of note here.
