Castlemartin Corse

The edges of the reed bed is looking a little damp now, however no easily seen standing water from hide yet to view any wetland species. Maybe the incoming storm will change that!

A snipe was flushed by one of the Marsh Harriers I saw today. Otherwise, it was a quiet time for birds and was a low species list compared to usual. Suspect many of the smaller birds were deep in the hedges as the wind increased during my short time down there. The hawthorns are a mass of berries so hopefully that will bring in some birds to feast on them soon.

The Corvids were giving any bird of prey present grief persistently chasing and mobbing them.

A sparrowhawk was seen hunting the field near hide. I only got a brief glimpse of it flying tight to the ground.

A kestrel was mobbed by corvids and came across marsh and over hide to escape the onslaught!

The Marsh Harriers were active today but in the main not in the air at the same time. They were moving up and down the corse on regular basis but never overly close to the hide.
