A trog around numerous sites on the peninsular this morning.
Firstly, The Gann, where a Kingfisher flew across the lagoon as I arrived, the 5 Bar-tailed Godwits were on the beach and a Knot was on the lagoon. There were large numbers of gulls scattered about including a few Meds in with the Black-headed. As I was walking back along the ridge a Little Gull flew in to join the Black-headed Gulls but lifted back up almost immediately and disappeared back into the bay. A Curlew Sandpiper was prospecting around one of the islands in the lagoon.
Second stop a very blowy Dale Airfield in the hope the American Golden Plovers had tired of the islands and were back on the mainland. Alas, no sign of them or any other plovers/waders for that matter. A couple of Wheatear were the only birds other than Meadow Pipits, Skylarks and corvids.
Marloes Mere - very quiet, not much to report.
St Brides - very quiet also. A Kingfisher flew from the garden of the house next to the church, SW along the treeline - presumably to the ponds within the woods to the south. An intriguingly slight, thin-winged falcon flew overhead as I was standing next to the pink building - unusual enough in profile that it didn't trigger an immediate thought of 'Kestrel' or 'Hobby' although probably closer to the latter. I didn't get the chance to get my bins on it before it disappeared over the trees and, needless to say, by the time I was out of the wood the bird was nowhere to be seen.
